Karibu

Hello from Arusha

Karibu means welcome in Swahili, and it is the first word you will hear from us. We are a small company. The person who answers your message is one of the people who plan the route, book the lodges and send out the vehicle.

Most of our guests have never been on safari. They ask us the same things: when to come, how many days to allow, whether the long drive to the Serengeti is worth it, what it all costs. We have tried to answer those questions on this site, with real numbers, so your first message to us can be a short one.

  3. Lake ManyaraOn the way up the escarpment. Forest and birds.

How we do things

What you can expect from us

One vehicle, only your group

Our Land Cruisers have a pop-up roof and a window seat for every guest. We never mix groups.

Prices on the page

Every safari lists the price per person for 1, 2, 3 to 4 and 5 to 6 travellers. The quote should not surprise you.

Arusha is home

Our office is in the town where northern safaris start. You deal with us directly, not with an agent overseas.

Routes you can change

Add a night in the Serengeti, drop Manyara, upgrade a lodge. Say so and we will send a new quote.

One guide all the way

The guide who meets you at the airport drives you the whole trip, so by the second day they know what you want to see.

Quotes in writing

Park fees, meals and transfers are in the price. Tips, drinks and flights are not, and the quote says so.

  • Calving season (January to March)
  • Green season (April, May, November)
  • Christmas and New Year

The dry months, June to October, are easiest for seeing animals and are the busiest. January to March brings calving on the southern Serengeti plains. April, May and November are green, quiet and cheaper. If you want to see the migration, read where the herds are each month.

How much does a Tanzania safari cost?

Our private safaris start from US$590 per person for three days and US$1,050 for five days, based on two travellers sharing a budget-tier trip. Mid-range lodges cost more, a solo traveller pays more per person, and groups of three to six pay less per person. Every itinerary page shows the full price table by group size and tier.

When is the best time to go on safari in Tanzania?

June to October is the dry season and the best time for wildlife density and easy driving. January to March is best for wildebeest calving in the southern Serengeti. April, May and November are the rainy months: green, quiet and cheaper. See our month-by-month guide for details.

Are your safaris private or shared?

All of our safaris are private: your own 4x4 Land Cruiser, your own driver-guide and your own pace. Every traveller gets a window seat and the roof opens for game viewing and photography.

How far in advance should I book?

For June to October and the Christmas and New Year period, book six to nine months ahead to secure your preferred lodges. For other months, two to three months is usually enough. Contact us even if your dates are closer; we will tell you honestly what is available.

What is included in the price?

Private 4x4 vehicle and driver-guide, accommodation, meals as listed, park and conservation fees, drinking water, airport transfers and all listed game drives. International flights, visas, travel insurance, tips and optional activities are not included. See each itinerary for the full list.

How do I pay and how much is the deposit?

We ask for a 30% deposit to confirm your booking and the balance 45 days before arrival, by bank transfer. Card payments are possible with a 3% processing fee. Full terms are on our payment and cancellation page.
